By then over the course of three years, Pompey along with Crassus support had conquered new lands and rearranged the whole political geography of the near east. Crassus had been nursing a grudge of his(Pompey) victory over Spartacus. Even though the two had made peace and worked together as consul in 70 B.C. By that time, Caesar had for years been carefully,step by step, building his credentials as a proven military leader and sensible populist politician.
